If you read a lot on your iPhone or iPad at night, you might want to start using iOS’s very useful, built-in “Night Shift” mode.

Night Shift reduces the amount of harmful blue light that your device emits by instead displaying warmer, red colors.

This makes reading at night much easier on your eyes, and you’ll likely get better sleep as a result of it.

Turning on Night Shift is very easy. We’ll show you how in a few simple steps.

Step #1 – Open up Settings, and Tap on Display & Brightness.

Step #2 – Tap on Night Shift.

Step #3 – Enable Night Shift Manually.

Step #4 (Optional) – Tap on Scheduled and set your Custom Schedule.

Once here, you’ll be able to manually enable Night Shift, schedule Night Shift so it automatically turns on and off at the times you choose, and adjust how warm you want your display to be during Night Shift.

Note: The warmer you set your display, the less harmful blue light will be emitted, but your screen will become redder as a result.
